Dr Des Rainey PhD (Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio), MA (Victoria, Wellington), DipTchg (Auckland)
Dr Rainey graduated in teaching from Auckland Teachers’ Training College. Then, with a doctorate in psychology from Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) he worked for many years in New Zealand in senior educational and clinical psychology positions including 10 years as head of psychology at Auckland Hospital.
Dr Rainey invented both the Kiwi Maths programme and the Number Stick and the rich fund of games and activities that drive its use in almost all areas of early maths.

Michael Baty PGDipEd Leadership (Waikato), BEd (Waikato), DipTchg
Michael is an experienced New Zealand trained teacher and educational leader. He has over 20 years of experience in education both in New Zealand and overseas. He has taught in England, the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand. Michael has a broad range of teaching experience and has taught students at both primary and secondary school level. He is an experienced educational leader and has held a variety of educational leadership positions (including senior teacher, curriculum coordinator of ICT, Mathematics, Assistant Principal, Principal and educational consultant).

Anna Rainey BCom (Auckland), DipTchg (Massey)
Anna is an experienced New Zealand trained teacher who has worked in all areas of primary education. Anna has worked in NZ schools and in the Middle East as a classroom teacher. Her last role was as an ICT Advisor working alongside Emirati teachers.
Anna has enjoyed using Number Sticks in her teaching and seeing the tremendous progress her students have made using the ‘Number Family’ approach to early numeracy.
